Thanks for this article Brigitta ! Super helpful. That’s so cool you got an agent from your querying who helped you get it published ! I’d love to hear more about that. Did you have other work for the agent to look through or was it solely through your comic pitch ?
You're super welcome, Lindsey! I had other projects ready as well. Actually, the graphic novel that became my debut was a concept I had pitched to my agent on the offer call that was different from the pitch package I submitted. I also had 2 other picture book dummies to share. Planning on making a post on how I got an agent that will go into detail so hopefully that will give more insight!
Oh that is incredible ! Way to go! I would love to see what your process was like. I'm looking for an agent and don't know how to share books you want to pitch without making them too public if that makes sense.
Oh I totally understand! It's a tricky balancing act where you want to protect what you made but also want to publicize it enough to find the right agent. I know quite a few people who got agents by cold querying which is the most safe in regards to posting online.
Thanks, Omar! Oooh are you still looking for someone? I might be able to help refer you to someone if you're still searching, just let me know what kind of style you're going for!
This is so helpful!! I just shared it with my critique group as a resource. Thank you for being so thorough!
Aw, thanks for reading and sharing Reagan! Hope it helps your critique group ❤️

Great stuff Brigitta! I’m under the gun trying to get an artist to finish a couple of spreads for KCU, if I don’t make it in time for this year, T
